I needed something smaller than the normal tall umbrella stand since my umbrellas are the compact, 12" size. This was perfect for my breezeway entrance. Using a small trash bag inside the metal insert should keep the basket and rug from getting wet. Beautiful and well-made, too!

Attactive and Sturdy
I wanted a decorative wicker basket to hold all of our devices -smart phones, iPads, portable chargers, etc. So, the basket had to be substantial and sturdy to support the weight of multiple devices without falling over. This basket is well made, strong and attractive. I plan to hide a power strip behind it so we can leave the devices organized in the basket and charge multiple devices at the same time. I'm very happy with this purchase.
