Kelli's Back-to-School List

My kids are entering 3-K and 2nd grade this year, and I’m ready. I’ve stocked them up with backpacks, lunch totes, new shoes and clothes, and now it’s time to think about my own back-to-school list. With school starting, it is extra important that I stay organized so I can manage family activities and my own responsibilities at The Basket Lady. A few secrets?

Saving that Art Class Masterpiece

With school starting, it is extra important that I stay organized so I can manage family activities and my own responsibilities at The Basket Lady. A few secrets? I use our Underbed Storage Boxes to store the papers and crafts that my kids bring home from school. I’ll then go through it at my leisure, throwing some pieces away or saving them for their memory books.

What Do You Want for Lunch?

Pantry organization also helps with the lunch-packing rush in the mornings, so I can quickly grab what I need. Use multiple Petit Pole Handle Wicker Storage Baskets side-by-side to hold granola bars, applesauce pouches, and other snacks. Store multiple sets of reusable sandwich and snack boxes in a Wicker DVD Storage Basket. Plus, a Square Low Wicker Storage Basket is great for the keeping the boxes of cheddar bunnies and other bulk snacks together.

Kids Can Help Too

Once school starts, laundry can pile up faster with school clothes and the change of clothes for after-school sports and activities. If you have the space, place a 3-Compartment Wicker Laundry Hamper in each bedroom, so family members can separate their own colors from whites, so you can easily carry everything to the washer and save time. If that’s not possible, you could also have smaller baskets in the laundry room to serve the same purpose.

Do It the Night Before

This year, I’m going to try to get my boys to have their backpacks ready to go (minus their lunch) before they go to bed. Plus, having their clothes pulled out for the next day, should help with speeding up the morning routine. If your ready to kick that up a notch, you could even have 5 Low Pole Handle Storage Baskets and preplan the week’s outfits on Sunday night.

Purchase BTS Supplies for Yourself

I may not have classes to attend, but I am running a household and working full-time. Whether you do both, or one over the other, it’s a full-time job regardless, and we need the right supplies too. Get yourself some cool notebooks and pens for list making and this organizer basket to hold pens, stationary and notepads on your desk. Don’t forget to update your phone calendar with all the special dates at school. Or just take a picture of the school calendar with your phone and save it in a photo album called school calendar.
